In college, he studied at Gonzaga University and averaged 14 points, 13 rebounds and 6 blocks per game in the 2017 NVAA Men’s Basketball National Semifinals. At the end of his freshman season, Collins gave up his last three years of college eligibility to participate in the NBA draft.
In the 2017 NBA draft, he was selected by the Sacramento National Team with the 10th pick in the first round, and then traded to the Trail Blazers to sign with the Trail Blazers. As a “seven-footer”, Collins has good agility and a good three-pointer Frame skills, as well as the ability to protect the frame, physical fitness, and coordination. Athletic ability is very good. However, in his NBA career, he did not go well and often suffered injuries. In the 2019 season, he was absent for at least 4 months due to a dislocated left shoulder, and the return date for left ankle surgery after recovery is undecided. After August 11, 2021, the San Antonio Spurs signed Collins.
