He played two seasons of college basketball at the University of Tulsa before moving to Missouri State, where he earned second-place honors in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). After forgoing his senior year to participate in the 2014 NBA Draft, Clarkson was selected by the Washington Wizards with the 46th pick in the second round and traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. In his first year, he was named to the All-Rookie First Team, which is very rare for a second-round pick.
Clarkson has a gorgeous style of play and is a very good frame shooter. He can control the rhythm freely and often change directions drastically to sway the defensive players. His flaw is poor passing, he is only an offensive threat, but not a passing threat. If he can have a good passer, he will be a good main attacker.
