Diallo studied at the University of Kentucky. As a freshman, he averaged 10 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist per game. After only one year of study, he participated in the 2018 NBA Draft. He was selected by the Nets with the 45th pick in the second round and started his NBA career. He then won the NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Contest in 2019.
Diallo’s finishing at the rim is passable, but as the champion of the All-Star Slam Dunk Contest, this level of punching is not enough. He’s an unpolished gem with physical talent but a terrible shooting touch. His three-point shooting percentage in his rookie year was 16%. Fortunately, he was upgraded to 39% after three years as a rookie, which is good enough, but the problem is that he only played 20 games that year. Does he really have this level? As a rookie at the end of the second round, it is an inspiration that he can become a good 3D player.
