December 26 News Reporter Dave McMenamin shared a photo of a statue of Dirk Nowitzki, which is built with Nowitzki’s iconic backward shooting posture.
In the 1998 NBA draft, Dirk Nowitzki was selected by the NBA Bucks with the ninth overall pick in the first round. He was soon traded to the Mavericks (now the Lone Ranger) and played until his retirement.
In 2007, Nowitzki led the Mavericks to a record of 67 wins and 15 losses in team history, and won the regular season MVP.
In 2011, the Mavericks led by Nowitzki defeated the Heat 4-2 to win the team’s first NBA championship and was elected the Finals Most Valuable Player (FMVP).
