January 7 NBA regular season, Lakers 130-114 Eagles.
After the game, James talked about why his role this season is closer to scoring in an interview with reporters.
James explained: "It all depends on the composition of the team, figuring out what you can do depends on who is on the court. Because of the current composition of our team, especially the thick eyebrows, Lonnie – Walker and Reeves are missing a few.
Week, I have to score a little bit more. But at the same time, I have to make sure the other guys are engaged and everyone stays on offense. It’s the makeup of the lineup and how it’s going now (determined)."
"It’s not something I’ve been used to (scoring) in my career, and I’ve never seen a duty like that. So, I just went with the flow, and luckily it worked out. I didn’t want to just go for it for the sake of it, it never was.
My style of play. I was always trying to be efficient, get my shots right, get the perfect shot, keep the tempo, always be an offensive threat, and that’s how it started,” James continued.
James played 33 minutes in this game, scored 25 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists on 10 of 19 shots, plus or minus +12.
So far this season, James has averaged 28.9 points (9th in the league) and 6.7 assists (16th in the league) per game.
