In the previous article, we selected the CBA domestic players and
The strongest foreign aid players are Yi Jianlian of the Guangdong team and Franklin of the Shanxi team.
Starting from this issue, we will classify the players in each position of the CBA, and make key comments on some domestic players in each position.
As in the previous graph, we use the horizontal axis to represent the player’s offensive impact.
The vertical axis represents the player’s defensive influence, the color represents the player’s offensive and defensive influence (the more orange, the greater the player’s influence), and the size of the circle represents the player’s playing time:
In modern basketball, point guards play the most important role on the offensive end, relying on their ability to shoot with the ball, break through the basket and pass control.
The same situation also exists in the CBA arena.
However, due to the huge level difference in the ability of players, foreign aid is the best in this regard.
In the picture above, the ones to the right of the abscissa are Franklin, Joseph Young, Deng Meng, Lawson, Jeter and other small foreign players…
Therefore, what route should the domestic point guard take to hand over the offensive influence of the same position?
Hu Mingxuan and Zeng Lingxu provided us with two ways.
Hu Mingxuan’s method is to reduce power and improve efficiency.
When the team has foreign players like Ma Shang and Wilms who can digest a lot of ball possessions, Hu Mingxuan’s offensive positioning is relatively simple: reduce the frequency of main offense with the ball, and instead wait for the corner three-pointer (
The efficiency on the basketball court is second only to the shooting area under the basket).
Thanks to this, Hu Mingxuan’s proportion of corner three-pointers this year has risen from 0.43 to 0.50:
Hu Mingxuan used to have a low three-pointer’s sight, but this season he has surrendered a more reliable three-pointer’s sight.
Among them, his corner three-point shooting percentage increased from 30.0% to 52.4%, and if converted into an effective shooting percentage, it can reach 78.6%-you know, most players can’t reach this level in the most efficient basket area.
Kind of efficiency!
On the premise that the team’s shooters can open up space, Hu Mingxuan will also properly play some pick-and-rolls on the court to find breakthrough opportunities; in the counterattack advocated by the Guangdong team, Hu Mingxuan will also play an important role.
Obviously, the ultimate goal of these two methods is the same: to attack the basket.
In the case that his physical condition is not top-notch, Hu Mingxuan relied on the team’s environmental support factors in limited rounds to increase his basket efficiency to an astonishing 67.8% (significantly higher than other domestic point guards).
Hu Mingxuan’s choice of shot distribution is nothing more than a logic: to concentrate his shots on the most efficient areas on the basketball court (under the basket and corner three-pointers), and to be able to maintain top efficiency.
Statistics show that Hu Mingxuan’s true shooting percentage reached 74.4%, surpassing 100% of players in the same position:
In addition, although Hu Mingxuan plays less of the main offense with the ball, although his own offensive role will not be high, it also reduces the risk of his mistakes to a certain extent, which also has a lot of positive value for the team’s offense.
Therefore, the pipm model believes that Hu Mingxuan is the domestic point guard with the strongest offensive influence (the position is more to the right in the first picture), which is also reasonable.
Zeng Lingxu took the route of attacking the basket and passing the ball as much as possible.
Zeng Lingxu has not had a stable performance in jump shooting in previous years. Last season, he encountered a small year in his jump shooting career. The three-point shooting percentage for the whole season was only 18.8%.
The shooting range (Abudu was rarely used as the 4th position after Ah Tijiang took office), actually dragged down Zeng Lingxu’s attacking efficiency.
Since this season, Zeng Lingxu’s three-point jump shot has finally recovered. Although it is still difficult to reach the excellent level, it is still better than last season.
More importantly, Zeng Lingxu has finally found what he was good at in the past: Although playing pick-and-rolls with the ball is still easy to be bypassed, he can still rely on his changeable breakthrough methods to find opportunities to attack the basket;
On the offensive end, standing more on the fixed-point three-pointer position also relieved Zeng Lingxu’s pressure on attacking the basket to a certain extent; in addition, Zeng Lingxu also has a good ability to hold the ball and push the fast break.
The above factors all help Zeng Lingxu improve his efficiency in attacking the basket.
Statistics show that Zeng Lingxu’s shooting percentage at the basket this year has reached an astonishing 67.6% (very close to Hu Mingxuan mentioned above).
Compared with Hu Mingxuan, Zeng Lingxu plays this role more on the offensive end, but there are actually two other benefits.
Income 1. Higher free throw income
In any case, the basket is where it is easier to get free throw opportunities.
Zeng Ling Xuduo took the ball to attack the basket, and there would naturally be benefits in this regard.
He’s also very good at taking advantage of this drive, forcing defenders to make poor help choices (for fouls).
Statistics show that Zeng Lingxu’s free throw/shooting ratio has reached more than 80% in the same position, and the number of free throws per unit time has reached 4.6, reaching the second place in the same position.
And Li Borun, who is No. 1, is obviously not as good as Zeng Lingxu in terms of playing time (Li Borun’s sample may have more noise):
Benefit 2. Better Passing Opportunities
In the positional battle, Zeng Lingxu frequently broke into the basket, in fact, he was able to send better passes for his teammates on the premise of changing the opponent’s formation.
He was originally a point guard, and he does have a good passing vision
