Sierra-Cascade Adventure Racing presents our 1st Annual Tough as Granite ½ marathon, 10k and 5k Trail Run at Granite Bay in Folsom Lake State Recreation Area located at the Sierra-Nevada foothills. The course features rolling and twisting hills on mainly single- and double- track trails. We have distances that match all levels of athletes. The 5k trail run is ideal for first-time trail runners, the 10k is great for intermediate and advanced runners, and the ½ marathon will be a scenic and challenging course. Trail terrain may include sand, roots, rocks and mud. A GPS-generated map will be posted at least three months in advance of the run with course details (elevation, aid station locations, etc). Sierra-Cascade Adventure Racing provides scenic courses, well-stocked aid stations, clearly-marked trails, GPS-measured courses, great shirt designs and goody bags, an award ceremony with refreshments, and raffle giveaways following the event. Awards will be given to the top three athletes in each 10 year age-groups: 19-under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+

Packet Pickup, Race-Day Registration/Check-In and Parking
Packet pick-up and registration will be available at The Running Zone between 10am and 7pm, Friday September 19, and Race day from 6:30 am to 8:45 am at Granite Beach of Folsom Lake SRA. Signs will be marked at the entrance leading you to the Start/Finish and Parking area.
First Aid, Water Stations, Restrooms and Spectators
First Aid, Water and Refreshment Stations will available at the Start/Finish, with water and refreshment stations mid-way through 10k, and 2 evenly spaced mid-way through the ½ marathon course. Park restroom facilities and portable toilets will be available at the Start/Finish area. Spectators are welcome and can enjoy the best viewing of the event from the Start/Finish area.
Registration, Race Swap, Refunds, Etc.
Registration is through Active.com. As an added bonus, every 20th registered runner will receive a complimentary pair of Drymax Trail Running socks. If the event is not filled, you can register in person during posted racer check-in. Confirmed athletes may switch races distances. Email us at info@scarsports.com, 48 hours in advance with your name and the distance you wish to compete. We can not switch athletes on the day of races. Unfortunately, we can not offer race refunds or transfer funds to other races events.
Rules and Regulations
Run numbers must be visible during the entire run and when crossing the finish line. Please bring out everything you take on the run with you! For the safety of all, we do not allow dogs, baby/child joggers, Ipods, MP3 players, etc.
Area Accommodations
Hotels in Folsom are available, visit the Folsom Chamber of Commerce. Camping is available at Folsom Lake SRA.
Directions
Folsom Lake State Recreation Area can be reached by either I-80 or Highway 50. Folsom Lake SRA has a $7.00 per vehicle entrance charge. California State Park passes are also accepted at the entrance.
From I-80 take the Douglas Blvd. exit east. Folsom Lake SRA is located at the end of Douglas Blvd, about 6 miles East of I-80. Turn right at the third stop sign once in the park and follow the signs to the Granite Beach parking lot.
From Highway 50, take the Folsom Blvd exit, turn left at the stoplight. Follow Folsom Blvd which becomes Folsom-Auburn Blvd (about 7.5 miles) to Douglas Blvd. Turn right on Douglas Blvd and follow it into the Park. Turn right at the third stop sign once in the park and follow the signs to the Granite Beach parking lot.
